Obituary: Lodie Coochise

Lodie Coochise, 55, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012 in Polacca, Ariz. after an eight-month battle with cancer.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1956 in Keams Canyon, Ariz. Lodie graduated from Orem High School then attended Brigham Young University. She worked for APS for 12 years at data entry. She left to work for Toby House as an accountant and finally for Arizona Department of Economic Security until she could no longer work. She moved back to Polacca in October 2009.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Polacca and served at the time as genealogical research and librarian. She loved to shop, sew, embroidery and most of all spending time with family especially her nieces and nephews, many of whom she raised. She had an open heart and always was willing to give and share what she had. Lodie had the prettiest smile.

She is survived by sisters, Verlinda Adams of Polacca, Ariz. and Belva Linda Wahwassuck of Mayetta, Kan.; brothers, Elbridge Coochise of Phoenix, Ariz. and George Coochise of Winslow, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob B. Coochise and Beulah Naha; sisters, Anna Mae Coochise and Antoinette Gloria Coochise; and brother, Vinton Coochise.

Funeral services for Lodie Ellen Coochise, will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Polacca, Ariz. Viewing will be held one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow at the Coochise Ranch-Talahogan.

Arrangements are under the care of Greer's Mortuary of Winslow.
