Tuhisma Hopi Arts and Crafts Market returns to Moenkopi Oct. 6
Navajo-Hopi Observer

MOENKOPI, Ariz. - The Hopi Pu'tavi Project and Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites are pleased to announce the 12th Annual Tuhisma Hopi Arts and Crafts Market. The market is held on the Columbus Day Weekend each year. The market will be held on Oct. 6 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. (MST) at the Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites in Moenkopi, Ariz.

The Tuhisma Hopi Arts and Crafts Market features the best in Hopi carving, jewelry, fine art, pottery and weaving. It is held to help benefit Hopi artists and their families and to give visitors an opportunity to visit the Hopi Mesas in northeastern Arizona. The market site this year is located at the intersection of Highway 264 and Highway 160, across the highway from Tuba City, Ariz.

The Hopi Pu'tavi Project is sponsoring the market for the first time with Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites. Hopi Pu'tavi is a non-profit community and youth development organization. The Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites is the gateway hotel for visitors coming to Hopi from the Grand Canyon and other places. Their website at www.ExperienceHopi.com provides a wealth of information to visitors to Hopi and will have information about the Tuhisma Market.

For artists who have come to the show in the past and for new artists, Moenkopi staff looks forward to your participation this year. There are changes in the application this year to correspond with the new location; they ask that applications are turned in soon as possible as space will be limited.

Please contact Matt Livingston at mateo@ag.arizona.edu, Frances at (928)-734-2050, or Brenda at (928) 380-7976 or 737-5463 after 6 p.m., or Vonette Monongya at (928)-266-2055 for information about applications or general market information.
