Family Resource Fair Aug. 8

The Family Resource Fair takes place Thursday, Aug. 8 from 5-8 p.m. at the Kaibab Early Learning Center, Kaibab Paiute Band of Indians Reservation, 2230 N. Pipe Spring Rd, #122.

This is a free resource for families with young children. The fair features story time activities, healthy snacks, kid's clothing swap, children's activities, books, music and door prizes.

Tse Sianni Bible Church in Shonto, Ariz., will play host to their annual camp meeting Aug. 30-31.

Pastor Harold Notble from Steamboat, Ariz. will be the speaker.

Holbrook Seventh-day Adventist Indian School is now taking applications for the 2013-2014 school year.

Tse Sianni Bible Church in Shonto, Ariz., will play host to their annual camp meeting Aug. 30-31.

Pastor Harold Notble from Steamboat, Ariz. will be the speaker.

Services start on Friday at 6 p.m. and on Saturday at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Child Evangelism Fellowship will provide youth services.

Birth certificates available

Birth certificates will be available through the Coconino County Public Health Services District. Its staff now travels to Tuba City, Page, and Leupp to offer the service outside of their regular Flagstaff office hours.

Staff visits Tuba City 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (local time) the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Coconino County District 5 Supervisors Office, 49 Maple St., one street west of Tuba City Regional Health Care Center. A Navajo translator is available.

Staff visits Page every second Wednesday of the month 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (MST) at the Coconino County Health Department, Northern Region Office, 467 Vista Ave.

Staff visits Leupp Chapter house the first Thursday of the month 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (local time).

Questions about requirements and fees may be directed to the Flagstaff office at (928) 679-7284/7272 or at the Flagstaff office at 2625 N. King St., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (MST).

Navajo Nation Special Diabetes Project central administration office relocation

The Navajo Nation Special Diabetes Project (NNSDP) central administration office has relocated to the log cabin behind the Inn of Navajoland in St. Michael, Ariz. because of the closure of Administration Building 2 in Window Rock, Ariz.

"We are not sure exactly how long we will be located here in this facility," said Betti Delrow, NNSDP acting program manager. "We will carry out our business and the services being provided to the Navajo Nation in preventing diabetes and providing education about diabetes will continue without interruption."

NNSDP is currently waiting for phone service and Internet to be installed at the new offices. Until then, phone messages may be left at the Window Rock Wellness Center at (928) 871-7870.

Cowboy Poets Gathering Aug. 8-10

The 26th Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering takes place Aug. 8-10 featuring Baxter Black on Aug. 8, Dave Stamey on Aug. 9, and Belinda Gail on Aug. 10. Tickets are available at www.azcowboypoets.org.

Local Community Food Bank BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag)

Natural Grocers will donate five cents per customer to Northern Arizona Food Bank for each person who shops with their own bag.

Going green will help the environment and those less fortunate in the community.

Grandparents Infant CPR and Safety Classes Sept. 24

Flagstaff Medical Center's Childbirth Education Department, in partnership with the Flagstaff Exchange Club, is offering an infant CPR and safety class for expectant and new grandparents.

The class is offered 6:30-9 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Northern Arizona Healthcare Education Center, located in the Fort Valley Shopping Center, 1000 N. Humphreys St., Flagstaff.

The class is $25 for two grandparents. Topics include car seats, home and crib safety, swaddling and use of infant slings, CPR and choking relief for infants and tips on how to play a supportive role for your adult children as they move into parenthood.
