Winslow wrestlers lose to Holbrook 39-36

The Winslow High School wrestling team lost a very close match to the Holbrook Roadrunners in Winslow Jan. 29. The match was so close that the winner was not determined until the final bout was complete. Holbrook won the match by a narrow 39-36 margin.

Blane Foster of Winslow pinned Samuel Plumb of Holbrook to win the 106-pound match. Winslow also won the 113-pound match when Quincy Foster pinned Dominick Spencer of Holbrook. The Roadrunners got a win in the 120-pound match when Theron Johns pinned Brayden Garcia of Winslow. The Bulldogs won the 126-pound match when Sergio Dominguez pinned Kohl Potts of Holbrook.

Winslow continued to win in the lower weight classes when Daniel Lopez pinned Noah Barela of Holbrook in the 132-pound match. In the 138-pound match Levi McClellan of Holbrook won a 3-0 decision over Chad Edgmon of Winslow in the first match not decided by a pin. In the 145-pound match Matt Bollin of Winslow pinned Shane McGraw of Holbrook. The Bulldogs continued to build a commanding lead in the 152-pound match when James Martinez pinned Jedde Bowman of Holbrook.

The Roadrunners began their comeback in the 160-pound match when Clayton Hunt pinned Preston Greenwood of Winslow. In the 170-pound match Kevin Self of Holbrook won an 8-3 decision over Jace Hardy of Winslow. In the 182-pound match Nikko Ferniza of Holbrook won a 9-6 decision over Quentin Begody of Winslow.

Holbrook's success in the heavier weights continued when Shem Bowman of Holbrook pinned Jacob Huddleston of Winslow in the 195-pound match. In the 220-pound match Holbrook's CJ Plumb pinned Trey Hardy of Winslow. In the 285-pound match Angel Aguilera of Holbrook pinned Jade Chischillie of Winslow and the Roadrunners won the tightly contested dual meet by a scant three point margin.
