POLACCA, Ariz. - Hopi High School girls cross country took first place and Tuba City won the boys race in the annual Hopi High Invite.

Hopi High won the girls race with 57 points, Northland Prep from Flagstaff snagged second with 81 points, Ganado took third with 122 points, Holbrook finished fourth with 150, Tuba City placed fifth with 189, Winslow placed sixth with 200 and Alchesay took seventh with 279 points.

Christen Ben paced the Lady Bruins with a fourth place finish. The other runners for Hopi were: Kaitlin Billy, 10th; Natasha Richardson, 11th; Randi Lomayestewa, 16th; Claryn Josytewa, 23rd; Kanisha Susunkewa, 33rd; and Onaneilda Begay, 41st.

Jayde Secody from Page was the individual champion with a time of 21:27 in the 80 runner race. Nikesha Eagleman from Ganado grabbed second and Shayla Tate from Monument Valley took third.

The others finishing in the top 20 were: Daangolina Haven, Ganado, fifth; Nicole Douglas and Nicolette Coleman, both from Page, finished sixth and seventh; Brianna Loughran, Tuba City; eighth; Chelena Betoney, Valley-Sanders, ninth; Kol'bi Nez, Holbrook, 12th; Chelsea Sheppard, Tuba City, 13th; Corrin Kalinich, Northland Prep, 14th; Tameeka Bahe, Chinle, 15th; Regen Gee, Northland Prep, 17th; Britney Curley, Chinle, 18th; Brittney Curley, Winslow, 19th; and Gabriella Evans, Northland Prep, Flagstaff.

Tuba City won the boys race with 34 points, Page snagged second with 68 points, Winslow claimed third with 102, Chinle finished fourth with 134 and Hopi placed fifth with 161 points.

The other teams were Holbrook, sixth, 199; Northland Prep, seventh, 203; Window Rock, eighth, 227; Many Farms, ninth, 229; Monument Valley, tenth, 254; Red Mesa, 11th, 261; Ganado, 12th, 274; Alchesay, 13th, 364; and Valley-Sanders, 14th, 441.

Shawn Tsinnijinne from Tuba City was the individual champ with a time of 17:03. The other runners from the top boys team were Eddie Loughran, fifth; Kyle Nutumya, seventh; Alonzo Thompson, tenth; Kyle Sumatzkuku, 11th; Christian Begody, 19th; and Tristan Yellowman, 21st.

The other runners finishing in the top 20 were: Binahni Curley, Window Rock, second; Jeffery Miller, Page, third; Searle Tracey, Chinle, fourth; Julian Cly, Monument Valley, sixth; Collen Hamblen, Northland Prep, eighth; Jon Hall, Northland Prep, ninth; Anferee Howard, Hopi, 12th; Kevin Decker, Winslow, 13h; Tyron Yazzie, Page, 14th; Austin Tsosie, Winslow, 15th; Ammon Secody, Page, 16th; Xiaija Schuldies, Page, 17th; Justin Littleman, Page, 18th; and Milland Thomas, Winslow, 20th.
